Take Netflix and chill to a whole new level

As I type this, my mind is focused, certain, motivated. My hands type effortlessly on the keyboard as my entire body feels relaxed, almost numb.

I feel like a million bucks.

Before you ask, no, I’m not on drugs.

I’m only experiencing the very tangible benefits of “deep touch pressure”.

This complicated term refers to the tactile feedback provided by firm stroking, cuddling, hugging, and squeezing.

Deep touch pressure calms the body and focuses the mind by acting on the autonomic nervous system (Hsin-Yung Chen et. al., 2011). It increases endorphin levels (the neurotransmitters that makes you feel good) and decreases cortisol and blood pressure (indicators of anxiety and stress). As if it was not enough, it promotes the release of serotonin AND dopamine, the “happy” and “motivated” neurotransmitters.

So… What does any of it have to do with a blanket?

If it were just an average one, nothing. But as it turns out, this is not your average blanket!

In order to trigger the benefits of deep touch pressure, our blanket had to be designed to be precisely 10% of your body weight, thus mimicking the sensation of being hugged or embraced.

FAQ

What weight should I get? How do I choose the weight of my blanket?

In order to reap the maximum benefits of a weighted blanket, you should aim for a blanket that’s approximately 5-10% of your body weight.

We’ve got 3 types of blanket available for you: 15, 20 and 25 pounds.

What is it made of?

This blanket is made from minky, which is a super soft modern fabric that feels like plush velour. Minky fabric is like fleece – but softer and thicker. The high quality of minky fabric prevents its colors from fading and its warmth from decreasing over time. The insert weighted blanket is made of cotton and is sewn to hold micro glass beads to reach the desired weight.

What are the dimensions of your blankets?

Our blankets are 48” by 72”. Or 72” by 48”… Depending on how you use it!

Are there any other colors available?

This blanket has been designed with the help of our supporters on our Facebook page.

We’ll eventually sell outer-shells of different colors, allowing you to customize your blanket to your liking!

Is it hot?

Nope! Since the blanket is weighted with tiny glass beads, the material can breathe easily, allowing any excess of heat to dissipate.

Is the blanket machine washable?

Of course! It wouldn’t be amazing otherwise. Both the outer shell and the base layer are machine washable.

Are there contraindications?

Someone recovering from surgery or suffering from a respiratory, circulatory or temperature regulation problems should not use a weighted blanket. If you have a medical condition, it is recommended that you seek the guidance of your doctor or occupational therapist before you decide to use this product. Our weighted blankets are not suitable for children. Do not let a child use the blanket without supervision and never use as a constriction blanket.
